Family Events organized the 2nd annual show at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA. This event is billed as “America’s Car Show”, featuring a celebration of horsepower and torque with some of the nation’s top Muscle Cars, Street Machines, Pro Touring, Pro Street, Wild Street Trucks and today’s top builders and part manufacturer’s.

“There are several car shows on the West Coast, but this event at the Fairplex fills the void for classic and modern muscle cars and street machines, which are growing quickly in popularity,” said Fairplex VP of Busniess and Development, Dale Coleman. “ The Street Machine and Muscle Car Nationals offers the best showcase of these dream machines from the Baby Boomer generation to today that are embraced by all fans of all ages.”

We’d have to agree that it was definitely a Baby Boomer kinda show. Tons of Camaros, Chevelles and Mopars. The big plus for this kind of event is the motion within the show.

Outdoor registered cars can show, cruise and participate in the burnout contest, chassis dyno or autocross course which was sponsored by Hotchkis Performance. There is so much more than just a static show. You can see, smell and hear all things automotive. Open headers are allowed and there is a significant cruise course with the Fairplex.

Street Machine and Muscle Car Nationals Pomona CA March 14 2015_159The indoor Pro-Builders Pavilion featured top builders like Chip Foose and Duane Mayer from “American Hot Rods” TV show. Also inside were vendors like So Cal Speed Shop. Alex Xydias and Pete Chapouris were attending to sign autographs and promote the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts (AXC). This program is designed for high school kids who are interested in the automotive field. The AXC is part of the Career and Technical Education Center at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high school students as well as community members with vocational training.

John Hotchkis was also present out in the autocross course which had approximately 30 cars running throughout the day. Some of the best times were 31-33 seconds with some mildly modified early and late model cars. That’s what makes it interesting, you never know what will show up and its open to everyone registered at the event. This is a great opportunity to test your reaction time and your driving habits. We’ll have to enter one of our cars next year and make a full day of it.

We’ll go back next year with GoPro and cameras.
